Help your students see past the scoreboard with this 11″x17″ printable poster on the three wins that are always available to them!
One of my favourite phrases to use with my students is "losing doesn't make you a loser."
I've been saying it for years, and it's simple enough that it's easy to forget in the heat of a game. The outcome on the scoreboard doesn't define the kind of player you are, and it definitely doesn't define the kind of person you are. When we let a loss become a label, we miss the three wins that were always available to us regardless of how the score shook out.
That's the philosophy behind this poster. It breaks down three kinds of wins your students can always walk away with:
💪 Effort Wins. They gave everything they had. That effort belongs to them, no matter what the scoreboard says.
🔥 Character Wins. They stayed kind, fair, and brave, even when the game got tough. That's real winning.
🎉 Joy Wins. They had fun, made memories, and enjoyed the game. That's what playing is really all about.
I designed this one to hang in the gym where students can see it, especially during units where competition starts to heat up. The goal is to give kids a framework for processing a loss before those big emotions take over, and to help them see that their relationship with the game is always bigger than the final score.
Happy Teaching!
